ORIGIN OF TURMERIC
Turmeric is a species obtained from the rhizomes of Curcuma Longa, a member of the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). Rhizomes are underground horizontal stems that send both roots down and shoots up.
It is a plant of Asian origin, considered a magical plant given its organoleptic characteristics and its undoubted therapeutic and protective properties, especially at the liver and skin levels (4, 5). It is mainly grown in China, India, Indonesia, Jamaica and Peru. In the high forest it grows more profusely due to the fertility of the soil, the rhizomes are larger and have a higher content of turmeric acid. In the lowland forest it grows on clayey-loamy soils (beaches) that were fertilized during the river’s rising stage, leaving the land enabled during the low water.
TRADITIONAL USE OF TURMERIC
BENEFITS OF THE TURMERIC
The raw materials used in each of our processes are selected and classified according to the highest quality standards.
SKIN CANCER PREVENTION
Both turmeric and curcumin have been shown to be very effective in preventing and curing skin cancer, inhibiting the effect of epidermal DNA oxidation and modulating the genetic expression of proto-oncogenes induced by various carcinogenic agents.
IMPROVEMENT IN THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT
Curcumin inhibits the production of IL-8 induced by Helicobacter pylori which plays an important role in the development of gastritis, ulcer and gastric adenocarcinoma. Protection against stomach tumors.
IMPROVED BRAIN FUNCTION
Curcumin can prevent the buildup of beta-amyloid plaques, which is correlated with Alzheimer’s disease.
HEPATOPROTECTIVE ACTIVITY
Turmeric increases glutathione content and its glutathione-s-transferase activity in the liver. By increasing the expulsion of bile acids by 100%, the solubility of bile, which corroborates its traditional use for gallstones, prevents fat accumulation induced by excessive lipid intake in the liver and adipose tissue.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY
Curcumin is capable of alleviating inflammatory problems related to multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis by modulating the signal of cytokines, a type of proinflammatory molecule. This anti-inflammatory capacity is due in part to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins.
ANTI-CANCER EFFECTS
Capable of reducing tumor growth and modulating secondary problems associated with cancer such as fatigue, depression or insomnia. Curcumin directly and indirectly inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), a crucial protein in the inflammatory cascade and has been linked to certain cancers.
